Product Description

G2 Challenge:  Improve control in changing conditions for moto and off-road.

G2 Solution:  The Throttle Cam System.

The Throttle Cam System incorporates a non-linear ratio between hand throttle rotation and carburetor or throttle body opening.  The “pulley”, or as we call it, “cam” pulls the throttle cable as the rider rotates the grip/tube.  By altering the conventional, circular shaped cam, a vast improvement in control is achieved.

The Throttle Cam System has cam options with reduced radius for the first ½ of throttle rotation, which requires a slightly farther turn to achieve the same carburetor or throttle body opening position as a stock throttle.  This slightly longer pull makes a HUGE difference in rider control as the power is rolled on.  The system comes with a “100CAM” – same as stock, “200CAM” – starts out 10% smaller than stock and “400CAM” – starts out 20% smaller than stock.  The radius of the 200CAM and 400CAM increases or “ramps up” to stock size at  ½ throttle to keep overall rotation required to reach full throttle at or near stock rotation.

I bought a 2008 KTM 450 XC-F, and while I love the power and torque, it was almost too much for tighter trails and slippery situations. But in Arizona, you have to have the power because there is also so much sand riding. The 400 cam proved to be the perfect complement for that bike, and it didn’t take anything away from my ability to take the bike to the track and ride motocross where the traction IS good, either. I’ll have one of these on every carbureted bike I own now, no kidding.

I recently installed a G2 throttle tube and cam on my ’00 Husky 610TE. I love my big yellow tractor but often in tight trail situations the power is(was) so abrupt that I found myself blazing new trails through the underbrush or testing the brush guards against trees! I decided to do something about it since I’m not getting any younger but the bike is as snappy as ever. I did some research and decided to call G2. The person answering the phone was named Sam. He listened to my tales of woe and suggested a tube and cam combo that should help me out. They soon came in the mail and I installed them on a Saturday night. It went together nicely but I found the throttle stuck solid at about 3/4 turn. I took the throttle housing apart to find the cam/cable was binding on the cover. I emailed G2 on a Sunday describing my situation and sent pics of the location of the binding. I expected a reply during the next business day/week but the reply came almost instantly from Sam’s Blackberry. He explaind the the throttle housing on my bike must be the model KTM had used on their 65SX and looked identical to mine just more compact. He requested my mailing address and promptly sent 2 different cams to fit the smaller housing, a new full sized housing and a new cam with even slower pull rate. He said to use what ever combo suited my needs and send the rest back with G2 paying postage both directions. That, my friends, is the true definition of customer service. Now that the bike is a lot calmer in the tight stuff I’ll need to blame something else for my consistently blowing through the corners and tapping tree trunks.Other companies make similar products but you’d be hard pressed to get such personal service as I did at G2.

I have been running the G2 throttles since 2006. I love them. I have them on my 450s now that I run in the AMA Pro series. I’ve started running the hand guards this year and they have worked really well.

This cam system is the best. It has made riding my two older two stoke 250’s much more enjoyable (at 42 I can now ride much longer because I am not as tired from holding on for dear life all the time, now I can choose when to be balls out). It also helps the bikes become much more adaptable to changing conditions and riding styles. They are well worth the price.

Works as advertised. I bought the system for my Gasser 300. Installation was a snap and I went with the slowest cam first just to see. I ended up working my way back to the medium one but I will probably end up using the slow one for muddy days or extremely technical riding. Fit and finish is top notch.

Ordered the G2 throttle system for my fuel injected KTM 350, mainly because of the removable end cap as I was installing new handguards, and wanted a clean look with open ended throttle tube and grips. I was impressed when I installed the 200 and 400 cams, as they took all the jerkiness out the initial throttle opening, and made for a very noticably smooth transition from idle-up. Quality machined aluminum piece.

I recently bought the G2 throttle cam kit for use on my 2014 ktm exc 300. Firstly, I was impressed with the speed of shipping to the UK, and when I opened up the kit I was really pleased with the quality of the production – the cams are a good fit and the knurling on the throttle tube mean that you don’t really need to lockwire your grip. Fitting the kit was easy, and the operation of the throttle was smooth – the derlin inserts certainly do the job. The operation of the throttle following fitment is great; it makes the bike far easier to control, and that is why I ordered it in the first place – firmly recommended for technical winter conditions.

Last year I bought a 2008 KTM 990 SM. It performed great but I missed some accuracy in my throttle control midcorner. It tended to overshoot in the corners with the smallest amount of throttle. To fix this I bought the G2 throttle cam. And I have to say, it worked like a charm. Fitting the kit was easy and it fits great. The throttle is much more dosable and the bike is a lot less nervous in corners but it still keeps all of its horsepower. I recommend this big time.

I just recently started using the G2 throttle on my Honda dirt tracker and it works awesome. Now I will be putting them on the rest of my bikes from here on out.

    :

Super high quality, with a tight fit on the cam to throttle tube. Easy to install, and the bushings help for smooth action for sure. I thought I wanted the 200 cam, but so far I have just been running the stock ratio cam. Even though I am not currently using the modified cams, it is great to have the option, and they are really easy to swap.
