Improved control for over-responsive fuel injected metric cruisers

SKU: metric-tamer Categories: ,

G2 Challenge:  Improve control of over-responsive power characteristics of  fuel injected metric cruisers.

G2 Solution:  The Tamer Throttle System.

The cure for the jerky “throttle snatch” you’ve noticed ever since you bought your big metric cruiser.  It’s not just you!  When you combine a huge displacement motor and fuel injection, things happen VERY quickly as you turn that throttle!  G2 has the cure that can be simply installed in minutes!

The Tamer incorporates a non-linear ratio between hand throttle rotation and carburetor or throttle body opening.  The “pulley”, or as we call it, “cam” pulls the throttle cable as the rider rotates the grip/tube.  By altering the conventional, circular shaped cam, a vast improvement in control is achieved.

The Throttle Tamer has a cam area with a reduced radius initially, which requires a slightly farther rotation to achieve the same throttle body opening position as a stock throttle.  This virtually eliminates the jerky “throttle snatch” especially evident in modern fuel injected machines.  The radius increases or “ramps up” after ½ throttle to keep overall rotation required to reach full throttle at or near stock rotation.

G2 Key Points:

  • Machined in the USA!
  • Tamer tube available separately or pre-glued to your choice of several grip styles (right & left grip included).
  • Installs in minutes!

Installed your G2 throttle tamer on my Yamana V star 1300 and after about 200 miles I can really appreciate the differance, especially when in stop and go traffic and moving along in first gear. Great Customer support and a really fine product.

Hi I have recently bought your product for my Vstar 1300. I have a set of ISO grips from Kuryakyn but cannot remove the throttle sleeve to replace it with your throttle tamer. Do you know if it is possible to remove. I really want to fit your product to my bike but at this stage I’m out of idea’s. Have tried putting in boiling water, Freezing, nothing works.

Hi Raymond, I suggest you ask this question to Kurakyn about how to break the adhesive. Do you have the original throttle tube/grip? If so, we have a video on our website that shows how to remove the grip from the tube. This may work on the Kuryakin as well, but I am not sure. Thanks! Cody

Stellar! Solved my issues for adding Arlen Ness grips to my Yamaha Star Raider. Found the proper position, glued the grip to the G2, good to go!
