G2 Throttle Tamer Tube for Yamaha
The G2 Throttle Tamer for Yamaha motorcycles is designed to help YOU become a better rider! How? It uses a “progressive” (non-circular) ratio between throttle grip rotation and power delivery. By changing the shape of the pulley, or “cam”, the Throttle Tamer gives you a huge improvement in control! This is the exact throttle used by Team Babbitts Kawasaki for GNCC XC1 and countless other off-road professionals!
Each Yamaha Throttle Tamer’s progressive shape is proven to be the best all-round solution for each model. For most models, the cam size begins about 20% smaller than stock, then it ramps up to the stock size by about one-half throttle.
The Throttle Tamer’s 20% smaller than the stock Yamaha size requires slightly more rotation at first. This slightly longer pull makes a HUGE difference in control! As the power is rolled on, you will find it far easier to modulate traction. The cam size increases, or ramps up, after ½ throttle to keep overall rotation near stock rotation. Whether your goals are faster cornering, less wheelspin or more finesse on those goat trails, the G2 Throttle Tamer will improve your ability to control the throttle!
For 2 cable Yamaha models, the cam appears circular from the side. However, if you look closely you will see a channel machined into the cam, This channel has our progressive “tamer” shape. Utilizing a channel provides all the control while keeping the cable positioned properly.
Are Delrin bushings better than ball bearings?
Ball bearing equipped throttle tubes seem like a great idea. Once installed and you’re twisting the throttle (with the bike on a stand and the engine off) it sure feels sweet! But give it a “real world test”. While you’re sitting on the bike, apply a bit of downward pressure on the grip as you turn. You will immediately feel the aluminum tube contact the handlebar. With G2 Throttles, the Delrin bushings prevent this completely! Push down all you want! In addition, ball bearings require constant maintenance, or the bearing will corrode and ultimately seize. Not so with our Delrin bushing equipped throttle tubes!
Using handguards? No problem with the G2 Throttle Tamer Tube for Yamaha! The end cap is removeable and allows easy handguard installation. The knurled area allows for solid grip adhesion. Just install a good quality grip (we highly recommend Domino Grips) and you’re good to go!

In 1 word- Amazing .
It tamed the throttle down for the tight technical stuff, which is what I wanted it for.
When pushing, I no longer feel worried that the aggressive nature of the WR 450 is going to send me of into a tree.
It would be nice however if you had dealers here in Australia, as it cost me a fortune in freight to get it here. Other than that I’m a happy customer.

If you’ve heard about this device and are still on the fence about getting it or not, stop reading and buy the thing. I have a ‘13 Yamaha WR250R that’s basically stock aside from an AIS delete. Stock exhaust, no air box modifications, stock gearing. At lower speeds in first and second gear the bike was jumpy, and somewhat hard to control in more technical areas. The throttle tamer literally made it feel like a different bike. Lower speed control is incredible. Before it went from idle to probably 22-2700 in the first crack of the throttle. Now it creeps up much more controllably and I have a more usable lower rpm range than I did before. The comparison became even more drastic when my friend with the same bike came over and I could directly compare stock throttle to the tame throttle. The difference really is night and day, this is definitely a modification to improve the handling of your bike. Buy one, you will not be disappointed with the results.

I was ready to sell my WR250R due to the snatchy off idle throttle response. Coming from a carb bike to the fuel injected WR I had high hopes but they were dashed with the weird power delivery at slow speeds in the rocks and tight stuff. I dared to order a Throttle Tamer in hopes of improving the problem. I was expecting a small return in performance in exchange for the what felt like a lot of dollars for a tube. I was wrong… it’s amazing. After installing a quality constructed throttle the bike was MUCH smoother. I would go as far as to say the smoother delivery even made my suspension feel better when riding the slow, tough stuff. I used to have plan my power/twist/delivery now I just ride the bike. I love this thing. Wish I’d bought one sooner. And, yes, I’d certainly buy it again.

Absolutely love the throttle tamer, works so well, for me the 2020 yamaha wr450f was too aggressive on the throttle, either on or off no in-between, after fitting the throttle tamer the bike is such a pleasure to ride through the single trails , can’t recommend it enough.
